Fresco and wall painting

Presence of calcite powder mixed with pigments has been found at Pompeii (Doerner, 263), Cologne (N. Davey, R. Ling, Wall Painting in Roman Britain, 1982, 59), at Glanum (A. Barbet, Recueil Général des Peintures Murales de la Gaule, XXVII Supplément à Gallia, 1, 1974, 35), at Pannonia (M. Járó, Roman Pigments of Similar Type from an Excavated Pannonian Building, 286), and in most Hispano-Roman wall paintings (L. Abad, Pintura Romana en España, 1982, 1, 278).
